For mobile mechanics who are done chasing work, chasing texts and chasing money

You Fix Cars in Driveways. We Built Everything Else.

The phone. The quotes. The texts. The invoices. The website, the Google profile, the directory listing, the certification, the job board, the videos and the podcast. One crew built all of it for mobile mechanics, inside a real mobile mechanic company. Here is every single piece, on one very long page.

That's me. Anthony. Master Mechanic on MechanicRank, and the guy who answers when you call.

From the desk of Anthony Limpert
Supercanic, Hemet, California, and Clickflame, Long Beach, California

Dear mobile mechanic,

If you are reading this, you probably have grease under your nails right now. You probably have a phone in your back pocket that buzzed three times while you were under a car this morning. And you probably called one of those people back an hour later, only to hear they already booked somebody else.

I know that feeling because I lived it. Supercanic started as one mobile mechanic in Hemet, California. A van, a set of tools and a phone that never stopped ringing at the worst possible moment.

Being good with a wrench was never the hard part. Everything around the wrench was the hard part.

Answering calls while lying on cardboard. Writing quotes on the back of a receipt. Sending a price by text and getting ghosted. Waiting three weeks for a customer to pay for an alternator I bought with my own money. Showing up on Google for nobody. Paying for leads that four other guys also got.

Anthony kneeling at the front wheel of a silver sedan in a driveway, brake caliper in hand, his service van open behind him
Brakes in a driveway, van open behind me. Still my favorite kind of day.

So I did something most shops never do. We built our own tools. Then we built them again, because the first version was not good enough for a tech standing in a driveway in July. We tested every screen on our own jobs, with our own customers, with our own money on the line.

That software is Shop Desk. Then we built the rest. A national directory so drivers can find independent mechanics. A free certification so good techs can prove it. Websites that load fast and rank. A podcast that calls out the hype. A job board. A pre-purchase inspection company. Even a video game.

This page puts all of it in one place. It is long on purpose. Read the parts you need. Skip the rest. Every price on this page is the real price, and most of what is here costs you nothing to start.

Grab a coffee. Let's go.

Anthony

Seven Leaks That Drain a Mobile Mechanic

Anthony on a creeper under a car with a wrench while his phone rings on the driveway out of reach
That phone. Every single time.

Read these slowly. If three or more sound like your week, this page was written for you.

  • The missed call. You are under a car. The phone rings. By the time you call back, they booked someone who answered.
  • The ghosted quote. You text a price. They read it. You never hear from them again, and you never find out why.
  • The surprise argument. The job grows once the wheel is off. The customer says nobody told them. Now it is your word against theirs.
  • The slow money. Invoices on paper, payments by promise, and parts you already paid for sitting on your card.
  • The invisible business. People search for a mobile mechanic in your town every single day, and your name is not on the page.
  • The shared lead. You pay for a lead, and four other mechanics get the same phone number at the same minute.
  • The one-man ceiling. You cannot grow past what you can personally remember, answer and write down.

Every one of those leaks has a fix on this page. Most of the fixes are free. Keep scrolling.

Shop Desk: The Whole Shop in Your Pocket

Shop Desk is the software we built to run Supercanic. If you can send a text, you can run it. It works in the browser on your phone, so there is nothing to install.

Quote at the Car, Not at the Kitchen Table

Stand next to the car and build the quote right there. Snap the photos. Add the parts and the labor. Send it. The customer opens it on their phone, sees what you saw, and signs once. That one signature approves the price and authorizes the work.

No more "nobody told me." The photo, the price and the signature live on the job forever.

Every Car Is a Tile

Every job shows up as a tile with a photo of the car on it. The customer, the year, make and model, the price and how long it has waited. You find a job by the car, the way mechanics actually think. Tap a tile and the whole story is there. The photos, the quote and the notes.

Today on the Road, on a Map

Open the desk and today's stops are on a map, next to the times and the jobs. Leads, quotes, booked, in progress, billed and paid, counted across the top, so you see where the money is stuck before you start the van.

The Text Desk

Every text with every customer, in one inbox, on the job it belongs to. On Pro you get your own texting number, and a missed call gets a text back automatically, so the customer hears from you while you are still under the car.

Shop Desk jobs on a phone, each job a tile with a photo of the car, the customer and the price The Shop Desk home screen on a phone with job counts and a map of today's stops

A Customer Page That Sells for You

Each customer gets a page that shows where the job stands, the photos, the quote and the receipt. They stop calling to ask "is it done yet," because they can see it.

Invoice From the Driveway

Close the job and the invoice is already built from what the customer approved. Send it before you pack up. Card payments switch on after a quick setup call, because every shop gets its own payment account.

Parts, Manuals and Labor Time

Keep the parts on the job they belong to. Link the repair manuals and labor guides you already pay for, right from the job. Get a suggested labor time when you are quoting something you have not done in a while.

Payroll Off the Same Jobs

When you add a tech, pay runs off the jobs they closed. Flat rate, hourly or commission. Payday becomes math, not a memory test.

VIN Decode, Recalls and the Repair AI

Type or scan the VIN and the car fills itself in. Check open recalls before you start. Ask the repair AI when a job throws you a curve.

One Mechanic Who Would Not Upsell

Brian Huey spent ten years in restaurants and five years in grocery. Then he took a job at a quick lube. He made assistant manager in about six months. The shop wanted a $100 ticket average and ten minute bay times. That meant telling people they needed things they did not need.

"I figured if I can run their shop and their employees, I can run my own."Brian Huey, Huey's Mobile, Monroe, North Carolina

He started Huey's Mobile with oil changes posted on Facebook, hoping the phone would ring. His wife Chrissy pushed him to go all in. We met Brian when he claimed his MechanicRank listing. He paid for a $150 inspection before we ever talked business, because he wanted to see the work first.

Then his wife told him he had better sign up.

Matt Bolen runs Wrench Services in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He runs it on Shop Desk. In this short film he tells the story of a hybrid battery job he could have sold, and why he did not. It is 53 seconds, and it says more about how good shops win than any ad we could write.

MechanicRank: Your Free Page in the National Directory

A lot of people never search for a business name. They search for a brake job cost, a mobile mechanic in their town, or a diesel tech near them. MechanicRank is built to show up for those searches, and it lists independent mechanics only.

We Probably Already Made Your Page

MechanicRank lists independent mechanics in all 50 states. There is a good chance your business already has a page. Claim it and it is yours to run. If you are not on it yet, add your business free.

  • Your hours, photos and services, edited by you
  • Your certification badges, shown where drivers decide
  • Your phone number front and center
  • Repair cost guides that send drivers looking for a mechanic
  • Text a Mechanic and Book a Mechanic tools that bring the customer to you
  • Optional dispatch, so you can say yes to the jobs you want
A mobile mechanic kneeling at a car in a driveway with his tools beside him

Why a Directory Page Still Matters

Your Google profile is the map. Your website is where people go once they know your name. MechanicRank is for everybody in between. Those are three different doors, and the more doors you have open, the more often the phone rings. This one costs nothing.

Piece 3 of 10

MRC Certification: Prove What You Know

Every driver wants to know if you are good before they let you near their car. MechanicRank Certification gives them a real answer.

  • 13 specialty tracks, from brakes and diagnostics to diesel, EV and hybrid
  • A real exam and a real grade: Apprentice, Grade C, Grade B, Grade A and Master Mechanic
  • A badge on your listing that any driver can verify in one click
  • Every certificate is good for 5 years
  • Free study guides for every track
  • All-Access is free right now. Every course, every exam, every retake.
A technician reading a tablet beside an open engine bay

Score 95% or better and you earn Master Mechanic. That badge is hard to get, and that is exactly why it means something to a stranger reading your listing at 9 at night with a dead car in the driveway.

Piece 4 of 10

A Website That Looks Like You Mean It

Most mobile mechanics either have no site or a site a nephew built in 2017. Both cost you calls. We design yours first and show it to you before you pay a dime.

See It Before You Sign Up

Tell us your business name. We design your site and send it to you. No card. No sales call. Look at it on your phone. Show your spouse. If you love it, it is yours for $150 once, or included when you run Shop Desk Solo at $50 a month.

  • Service pages for the work you actually do
  • Town pages for the places you actually drive to
  • Your phone number on every screen, one tap to call
  • Built to load fast on a phone with one bar of signal

$150 includes a year of hosting, then $25 a month. Bring your own domain or we get you one for $15. Questions? Call (951) 904-2477.

  • Your Google Business Profile, worked every month
  • Service pages and city pages built to rank
  • Your website, built and hosted free
  • Month to month. No contract. Stop any month.

PPI Auto: Pre-Purchase Inspections in All 50 States

Every week somebody asks you, "Can you look at a car before I buy it?" PPI Auto is our inspection company, and it runs every inspection as a job in Shop Desk.

Who This Is Not For

We would rather lose a sale than waste your time. This is not for you if:

  • You are a dealer or a big chain. We only sell to independents.
  • You want to sell people work their car does not need. Brian left a job over that, and so would we.
  • You want a tool that does everything except get used. Shop Desk is built to be opened fifty times a day.

Everybody else, keep reading.

Questions Mechanics Ask Us

Is Shop Desk really free?

Yes. The Free plan is a plan, not a trial. There is no card to enter and no clock running. You can quote, book and run jobs on it for as long as you like. Solo and Pro add more when you want them.

What does Solo cost, and why is it so cheap?

Solo is $50 a month and it has everything Pro has. It stays $50 until your shop has 100 closed and paid jobs on it. After that it moves to $149, and we email you before the first $149 charge so it is never a surprise. We price it low on purpose. A mechanic who is just getting going should not pay shop prices.

What does Pro cost?

Pro is $149 a month. That is a little under $5 a day. Pro adds your own texting number and the missed call text back, so a call you could not pick up gets a text back while you still have your hands in an engine.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Shop Desk runs in the browser on your phone, tablet or laptop. Sign up and you are in.

Can I take card payments on day one?

Cards switch on after a short setup call, because every shop needs its own payment account. Quotes, approvals, invoices and the rest work from the minute you sign up.

I already have a Google profile. Why would I want a MechanicRank listing too?

Your Google profile catches people who search for you or for a mechanic near them on the map. MechanicRank catches people who search for things like a brake job cost or a mobile mechanic in a town you cover. Those are different searches. The listing is free, so there is no reason to leave it unclaimed.

Is the MechanicRank listing really free?

Yes. Claiming your listing is free and adding a business is free. You can update hours, photos and services yourself.

What is MRC certification, and what does it cost?

MechanicRank Certification is 13 specialty tracks with exams. You earn a grade from Apprentice up to Master Mechanic, and the badge shows on your listing so any driver can check it in one click. All-Access is free right now. Every course, every exam, every retake, no card.

Does the $50 plan really come with a website?

Yes. Shop Desk Solo at $50 a month includes a website for your business. We design it first and show it to you before you sign up. Solo has a 3 month minimum, then it is month to month.

Can I buy just the website?

Yes. It is $150 once. That includes a year of hosting, then hosting is $25 a month. Use your own domain, or we get you one for $15. You still see the design before you pay.

What if I do not like the website you design?

Then you do not pay. Tell us what to change, or walk away. You never pay for a site you have not seen.

What does the $800 a month marketing plan include?

Clickflame runs your Google profile, builds your service and city pages, and builds and hosts your site free. It is month to month. There is no contract and you can stop any month.

What is a pre-purchase inspection, and what does it cost?

It is a full check of a used car before someone buys it. PPI Auto runs them in all 50 states. A standard inspection is $225 for most cars, pickups and SUVs. Extra tests like compression only run with the buyer's OK.

Who built all of this?

Supercanic, a working mobile mechanic company that started in Hemet, California, and Clickflame, the marketing company behind it. Shop Desk was built inside the shop, for the shop, before it was ever sold to anyone.

Do you sell to big chains and dealers?

No. Shop Desk is sold to independent shops and mobile mechanics only.

I am not good with computers. Will I be able to use this?

If you can send a text, you can run Shop Desk. That was the whole design brief. And if you get stuck, call (951) 904-2477 and a real person picks up.

Can I see it before I sign up?

Yes. Open the demo garage and click around a shop that is already full of jobs. Nothing you do there touches a real customer.

What is Smoke & Receipts?

It is our podcast. Every episode takes one piece of hype about running a small business and checks it against real numbers. Then we call it. Smoke, or receipts?

Can I open a Supercanic of my own?

Mechanics with three or more years of experience and their own van and tools can apply to run a Supercanic location. Read the details on the franchise page.

I need to hire. Can you help?

Post the job free on the MechanicRank jobs board. Local shops and fleets post openings there, and nobody takes a cut.
